Secures Major IPs Following BTS, Maroon 5, and Justin Bieber
Story, the blockchain-based intellectual property (IP) protocol, has announced the securing of global pop star Selena Gomez’s IP.
"A portion of the copyright of one of Selena Gomez’s representative songs, ‘People You Know,’ will be provided in the form of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization through the Aria protocol under Story," announced Story on its official X on the 19th (local time).
'People You Know' is a mega-hit song that has been streamed over 370 million times on the global music streaming platform Spotify. Selena Gomez is considered one of the most streamed artists in the world, with over 45 billion cumulative streams.
The global IP market size is approximately 61 trillion dollars (about 8,968.8 trillion won), and cross-border IP royalty payments are known to exceed 1 trillion dollars annually.
As the IP market rapidly expands, Story is strengthening its influence in the market by continuously securing global artist IPs.
Story has already collaborated with numerous global artists such as BTS, Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Blackpink, and Aespa, securing a large number of major IPs.
Moreover, on the 7th, Story unveiled a preview version of the 'IP Portal' that allows anyone to quickly and easily upload content and register IPs, garnering attention in the industry. Last month, it also joined the 'C2PA (The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity),' a global digital content certification coalition established by Adobe, Google, and Microsoft (MS), as the first blockchain company.
An industry official analyzed, "Story is expanding its market share in the global IP royalty payment market by continuously securing major IPs like Selena Gomez and BTS. The IP Portal can encompass individual creators and artists around the world, raising expectations for the expansion of Story's overall IP business."
Meanwhile, as news of securing major IPs continues, Story's own token, IP, also showed an upward trend. According to domestic virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange Bithumb on the 20th, the IP token is being traded at 8,150 won, showing a 4.4% increase from the previous day.
