Sony and LINE Team Up to Integrate Mini-Apps Onto Soneium's Blockchain

Sony and LINE Team Up to Integrate Mini-Apps Onto Soneium's Blockchain

Sony's blockchain venture, Soneium, is set to integrate messaging giant LINE's mini-apps into its ecosystem, marking a significant step in expanding blockchain gaming.

Announced via a joint statement by Sony Block Solutions Labs, the developers of Soneium, and LINE, the partnership will focus on enhancing the user experience and providing support to developers.

"We are excited to be working with LINE to bring four of their mini-apps to the Soneium ecosystem," said Masahiko Izumo, CEO of Sony Block Solutions. "We believe that this partnership will be mutually beneficial, as we will be able to leverage each other's strengths to create new and innovative experiences for users."

Integration of LINE's mini-apps into Soneium's blockchain will begin in the coming months, with the first batch of games including:

* LINE Mini City

* LINE Dragon Flick Chain

* LINE Family Town

* LINE PARALLELO

These games will be among the first to benefit from Soneium's Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain technology, which is designed to provide greater transparency, security, and decentralized ownership to gamers.

The partnership also highlights a broader trend of major tech firms integrating blockchain technology and decentralized applications (dApps) into their platforms. LINE, a dominant messaging service in Asia, has been actively exploring Web3 initiatives, recently launching a decentralized app (dApp) portal powered by Kaia, enabling users to access blockchain applications directly through LINE's mobile messenger.

For Sony, this move is part of a broader strategy to expand its footprint in the Web3 space. The company launched Soneium's Ethereum Layer 2 mainnet in January 2025, with its blockchain subsidiary, Sony Block Solutions Labs, based in Singapore.

The integration of LINE's ecosystem aims to increase adoption and utility within Soneium, positioning it as a leading blockchain gaming network.

Soneium's blockchain infrastructure is designed to address some of the key challenges in blockchain gaming, providing:

* Scalable and efficient transactions with low transaction fees

* High throughput and speed for a seamless gaming experience

* Interoperability with other blockchains and Web3 services

With LINE's massive user base and Soneium's blockchain expertise, this collaboration is expected to accelerate the adoption of Web3 gaming across Asia and beyond.
