US singer Macy Gray 'pulls out' of Celebrity Big Brother after 'meltdown'

US singer Macy Gray is said to have "categorically ruled out any appearance" on the upcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother after reportedly being in "deep talks" with ITV bosses

US singer Macy Gray has reportedly pulled out of Celebrity Big Brother just days before the launch show.

The Sun report that the I Try hitmaker has declined the opportunity to appear on the ITV reality series despite seemingly engaging in serious discussions with producers.

A source told the publication that the star had backed out from joining the roster, even though production executives were enthusiastic about her joining the show.

It comes just months after Macy was seen storming off The Masked Singer UK stage and refused to be unmasked after being booted off the wacky game show.

An insider explained: “Macy’s fury at being voted out as Toad In The Hole earlier this year was such a talking point and bosses thought she would also make a great housemate.

“She had appeared willing to reshape her image after The Masked Singer scandal but ultimately chose not to proceed.”

Despite these claims, the spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother played their response coyly regarding any star-studded participants. An ITV spokesperson said : “Any names suggested for Celebrity Big Brother are purely speculation.”

Macy previously shocked the audience with her exit from the vocal competition The Masked Singer, leaving ITV viewers agape when she was disclosed as the person behind Toad In The Hole.

However, the situation became awkward when the star appeared to refuse to remove her mask. Viewers watched as she exited the stage after the panel chose to save Bear in the final vote.

Host Joel Dommett was left speechless by the incident. The panel, which included Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and guest judge Suranne Jones, were equally taken aback by her actions.

Shortly afterwards, Macy returned to the stage and revealed her identity, although she did not seem pleased about her departure from the reality show.

A source claimed that Macy was simply “blindsided” by being one of the first to be eliminated from the show, especially after reaching the final of the US version as Sea Queen in 2023.

The insider said she was initially “almost shellshocked to start with” and was quickly “gutted to be out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version”.
