This remake of Silent Hill 2 occasionally goes overboard with the game's renowned difficult and time-consuming obscure puzzles. The Woodside Apartments, the Safe Puzzle in Room 206, is one of five Safe Puzzles in Silent Hill 2; this puzzle rewards you the Man Coin, which you'll need to solve the Coin Cabinet Puzzle.
To reach the safe in Room 206, you'll need to get your hands on the Golden Hand-shaped Handle from the cabinet in Room 108. You need to use the handle to open the cabinet In Room 208, and after moving the cabinet out of the way, you can make your way through the crevice. Once you're in, your only way out is to solve the safe puzzle for the key.
If you feel stuck, don't worry. This guide is here to help! On the wall, the game gives you a riddle with hidden clues within.
"Right where the rooftops pierce through the night.
Left are the homebound footprints with no owner in sight.
But he has found home, oh please pray tell,
or river of memories leading right to his hell"
The riddle gives you an idea of the code of the safe and the order in which it is used. So, first, you'll need to look around the safe using your flashlight.
If you look at the wall behind the safe, you'll spot a house with the number 13.
If you look around a bit more, you'll find a different house with footprints with the number 7.
To finish this puzzle, you'll need the final number. If you look for drawings around the corners of the room, you'll find something that represents a water body with the number 11.
Now that you have all the numbers, proceed to the safe and go back to the riddle. You'll need to remember the numbers 13, 7, and 11. The first line says "Right" and "rooftops." From this, you can deduce that you'll have to turn the safe lock to the Right 13.
Next, the riddle mentions "Left" and "footprints" on the second line. From this, you can work out that you'll have to turn the lock to Left 7.
In the final line, the riddle uses the words "river" and "right", so it's Right 11.
If you've followed this Silent Hill 2 Safe Puzzle guide correctly, the safe should open, and you should get the Man Coin, which comes in handy when you encounter the Coin Puzzle, as well as the Steel Key, which you need to leave the room.
