Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens worth $2.2 million mysteriously withdrawn from Coinbase hot wallet

It's not every day that a cryptocurrency exchange sees over 174 billion Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens

Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens worth $2.2 million mysteriously withdrawn from Coinbase hot wallet

A whopping 174 billion Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens, valued at roughly $2.2 million according to current prices, have been seen moving out of a cryptocurrency exchange.

Over the course of four days, a substantial amount of SHIB tokens were seen being withdrawn from Coinbase hot wallets and arriving at a totally inactive wallet "0x38A8" with no transaction history, according to on-chain data.

The large-scale transfer of SHIB tokens began on August 7 with an initial batch of 46.8 billion tokens. Another 47.8 billion tokens were seen being transferred the following day.

The last and biggest chunk of 79.385 billion SHIB tokens arrived at the new wallet just 18 hours ago.

While there has been speculation that the move could be linked to a good sign of a big player moving their assets to cold storage, it is also possible that the exchange is reorganizing itself and there is no big story behind it.

However, on-chain data from Arkham Intelligence reveals that despite this major withdrawal, SHIB's overall exchange flow suggests more deposits than exits at present.

In the traditional market sense, this finding could be viewed as bearish, as more coins flowing onto an exchange might indicate that traders are preparing to sell. Logically, if big holders were dumping their SHIB, the sensible move would be to send it to an exchange, not withdraw it.

This anomaly presents a contradiction that sparks broader uncertainty within both Shiba Inu and the broader crypto market, which seems to lack any clear direction or strong signals regarding its next move.

At present, this transaction stands as an anomaly, an event without a clear resolution or implication. It remains unclear whether this marks the start of something larger or is merely a random blip in SHIB's on-chain history. Only time will reveal the unfolding narrative.
