Will Shiba Inu (SHIB) Ever Surpass Dogecoin (DOGE)? Financial Experts Weigh In

Apr 17, 2025 at 02:40 pm

In the ever-volatile world of cryptocurrency, the battle between meme coins continues to stir up debate, particularly between Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE).

Will Shiba Inu (SHIB) Ever Surpass Dogecoin (DOGE)? Financial Experts Weigh In

In the ever-shifting landscape of cryptocurrency, the battle of meme coins never fails to ignite discussion, especially with the two heavyweights, Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE), in constant contention.

Despite SHIB's meteoric rise to fame and the relentless efforts of its community, a new poll by Finder has discovered that financial experts are largely skeptical that the token can overthrow Dogecoin.

In a poll of 14 prominent finance professionals, the majority (79%) said they don't think Shiba Inu will outgrow Dogecoin in market cap.

The Meme Coin Mashup

Shiba Inu burst onto the crypto scene in 2020 as an Ethereum (ETH) standard token and was quickly dubbed the ‘Dogecoin killer’ by its legions of fans.

Dogecoin, on the other hand, began in 2013 as a light-hearted take on Bitcoin (BTC) and later became a favorite of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Shiba Inu has seen huge gains throughout 2021 and 2022, with its community working tirelessly to boost its value through new partnerships, token burns, and a relentless online presence.

However, despite these efforts, Dogecoin still boasts a stronger market position and broader brand recognition.

Expert Opinion Leans Toward Dogecoin

The financial professionals surveyed by Finder cited several factors for their skepticism, including Dogecoin's longer history, superior name recognition, and greater integration with mainstream platforms.

The majority of these experts view Shiba Inu's gains as largely speculative and deem them unsustainable in the long term.

One of the polled experts noted that while Shiba Inu has a more engaged community, Dogecoin's edge lies in its simplicity and adoption for use in payment systems.

Another expert highlighted Dogecoin's first-mover advantage in the meme coin category, making it difficult for competitors like Shiba Inu to gain significant traction.

The Verdict Is Still Out

The crypto community remains divided.

Shiba Inu enthusiasts are rallying around the token's new partnerships, increasing burn rate, and integration into new use cases. Meanwhile, Dogecoin supporters are highlighting the coin's already-established ecosystem and widespread adoption.

Both Shiba Inu and Dogecoin are known for their high volatility and sensitivity to social media trends, celebrity endorsements, and retail investor sentiment.

As Shiba Inu and Dogecoin continue their tug-of-war in the market, it remains to be seen whether new developments, partnerships, or macroeconomic shifts could change the dynamics in this heated rivalry.
