Shiba Inu (SHIB) Can Now Be Used to Pay for Food Delivery Orders via Web3 Service DevourGO

A Web3 meal delivery service has reportedly completed a food order using Shiba Inu (SHIB), making it possibly the first time the meme coin was used to pay for a meal delivery.

Devour, the food ordering and delivery company, announced the transaction on its X handle, stating that the order was placed through DevourGO. DevourGO is a service that allows users to order food from millions of restaurants and have it delivered to their door.

According to DevourGO, the transaction might be historic as it could be the first time Shiba Inu was used to pay for a food delivery order. “This is the first food delivery order ever paid for with $SHIB,” the post reads.

DevourGO’s integration with Coinbase Commerce now enables users to pay with the meme coin SHIB. “We bought the first meal; who’s next?” the company stated.

The dog-themed token appears to be gaining traction, even if it’s unclear whether the transaction qualifies as the prime SHIB-paid meal delivery. More importantly, Shiba Inu holders can now settle their food bills more easily using the tokens.

Devour recently partnered with Coinbase Commerce to streamline cryptocurrency payments for the DevourGO app, which boasts millions of users. The collaboration allows wallet account holders to settle their meal bills swiftly and seamlessly using the Coinbase platform.

Highlighting the convenience for cryptocurrency users and the new avenue for restaurants to reach a tech-savvy and growing customer base, Devour CEO Shelly Rupel hailed the partnership as a win-win for both parties.

Shiba Inu’s expanding utility

notably, SHIB has also scored another victory among altcoins—its application in real-world commerce is getting accepted.

The token’s increasing demand is likely to boost its value. For instance, SHIB’s current price is up 0.32% at $0.00002153, and recent positive fundamentals could be contributing to its recovery, as indicated by data from CoinMarketCap.

This event was also seen by the broader cryptocurrency community as a significant step in the wider acceptance of meme coins, not just for SHIB but for the entire ecosystem.
