Rohit Sharma's uncanny misfortune with the toss continued as he lost the coin flip for the 12th straight time in ODIs, tying an unwanted record set by Brian Lara.
Opting to bat first, New Zealand won the toss and decided to put the Indian batters in to chase.
"We've been here enough, batted first and bowled first, don't really mind batting second. It hasn't changed much; we've chased and won as well. It does give you a lot of confidence and takes the toss away from the game. At the end of the day, what matters is how well you want to play," Rohit said after the toss.
India, the no. 1 ranked side in the world, will be looking to capitalize on their formidable chasing form. They chased down 352 in the semi-final clash against Bangladesh.
On the other hand, New Zealand will be hoping for a strong start with the bat and to restrict India's scoring rate.
The two teams remain unchanged from their semi-final encounters.
New Zealand XI: Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (w), Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c), Kyle Jamieson, William O'Rourke, Nathan Smith.
India XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul (w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy.
