Ripple's XRP Gains Momentum Amid Bullish Market Trends

Jan 14, 2025 at 11:04 pm

XRP is trading above $0.3 for the first time in over a month due to a general cryptocurrency rebound. Currently, it stands at $2.60, a recovery from its December 30 low of $2.

Ripple's XRP Gains Momentum Amid Bullish Market Trends

XRP price shows bullish signs amid a broader cryptocurrency market upswing. At the time of writing, XRP trades at $2.60, showcasing a critical level of support in its bullish trend.

XRP price rallies as RLUSD shines, meme coins thrive

XRP price is rising as traders might expect due to the performance of Ripple’s USD-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD. According to CoinGecko, the stablecoin has over $72 million in assets and is gaining a lot of steam.

In one day, RLUSD reportedly had $162 million in trading volume, making it the sixth most-used stablecoin. It outperformed competitors in the market, such as Justin Sun’s USDD, Frax, and PayPal’s PYUSD. Notably, PYUSD, which has a greater market capitalization at around $534m, barely attained a 24-hour trading volume of $22m.

This comes as investor interest in Ripple-associated tokens is also surging, a fact we see reflected in XRP’s price performance. Some of the best performers are meme coins, such as Pongo, XRP Army, PHNIX, and Britto, which may be an indicator of further activity in the Ripple family.

This counters earlier critiques of Ripple as a ‘ghost chain’ that lacked the relevance of a functional utility.

XRP price also rose at a time when the market showed interest in meme coins and other digital assets associated with the payments firm. XRP Army and Pongo are among the top gainers, having surged over 1,000% in the past 30 days. Of course, XRP also had a good week, rising 3 days in a row.

XRP price technical analysis: bullish pennant formation

In the shorter timeframe, XRP price is showing signs of a bullish trend in the trading market, which is evident in the three-day rise in the cryptocurrency’s price. This price action stands out from other market indicators. Additionally, XRP price recovered from $2 at the lower boundary of the symmetrical triangle, which is considered a bullish pennant formation.

At the same value, XRP price just formed a bullish break and retest pattern with a lower high at $1.966, which was previously a record high. This formation is widely interpreted as a continuation of the bullish pattern signal.

The precious security remains comfortably situated well above all key moving averages, which are supporting its current trend. They believe that $2.9150 will be the next key level of resistance in the affirmative for XRP’s current rally.

World Economic Forum attendees to discuss digital assets, CBDCs

The World Economic Forum (WEF) will be hosting discussions on digital assets and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) at its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The event will bring together government officials, economists, and business leaders to examine pressing global issues.

In the context of digital assets, attendees are expected to assess the market’s recent recovery, the role of stablecoins, and the regulatory landscape for cryptocurrencies. Against the backdrop of several countries exploring CBDCs, the discussions will also likely touch upon the implications and use cases of digital fiat currencies.

Highlights from the session include:

* Examining the digital assets landscape in 2023, covering market trends, key developments, and challenges.

* Assessing the role of stablecoins in the digital assets ecosystem, including their benefits, risks, and regulatory considerations.

* Exploring the regulatory outlook for cryptocurrencies in different jurisdictions, discussing upcoming legislation, enforcement actions, and their impact on the industry.

* Analyzing the implications of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) for the financial system, monetary policy, and financial inclusion.

* Identifying use cases and applications for CBDCs in various sectors, such as cross-border payments, supply chain management, and government services.
