Ripple Unloads Final 100 Million XRP in April Dump

Apr 26, 2024 at 07:57 pm

On April 24th, Ripple concluded its monthly token release by selling the last 100 million XRP from its escrow for $52 million. This ends the April token unlock, as the firm looks ahead to a 1 billion XRP release in May.

Ripple Unloads Remaining 100 Million XRP in April Dump

In a move that concludes its April token unlock, Ripple has offloaded its final 100 million XRP tokens from this month's reserve tranche on April 24. This sale follows the company's release of 1 billion XRP on April 1, paving the way for May's 1 billion XRP distribution.

Ripple's April Dump: A Closer Look

On April 1, Ripple released 1 billion of its tokens from its initial distribution, locking them in monthly escrow vaults until 2027. The company subsequently moved 200 million XRP to its custodial account, leaving 800 million in the new escrow.

Notably, Ripple conducted the first half of its monthly sale on April 14, amid geopolitical tensions surrounding the escalating Iran-Israel conflict. This marked the longest observed waiting period for Ripple's monthly dumps in recent times, concluding on April 24.

As has become customary, both sales originated from the custodial account, labeled Ripple (1), which sent 100 million XRP to the unlabeled account rP4X2…sKxv3.

Tracing Ripple's Dump

Upon receiving the first 100 million this month, Ripple's destination account rP4X2…sKxv3 distributed some of the tokens to four unlabeled accounts. However, the total distributed exceeded 120 million XRP, suggesting it utilized prior reserves.

Following Ripple's second sale, the account distributed over 152 million XRP to three similarly unlabeled accounts, with a further 2 million going to a different account.

Of particular note, rhWt2…E32hk received the most XRP from April's dumps. This account has consistently served as an intermediary for Ripple's dumps, forwarding unlocked XRP to labeled centralized exchange addresses.

XRP Price Analysis

Ripple's sales have a direct impact on XRP's price, given the supply-side pressure they create in the spot market. Historically, XRP has often faced localized dips when Ripple sells its tokens.

In 2024, only three out of ten dump days saw positive price action: February 5, 11, and April 14. All seven other days witnessed localized dips, underscoring the importance of monitoring the company's activity.

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $0.52 per token, down nearly 5% since Ripple's latest dump.
