Ripple Co-Founder Chris Larsen Transfers $109M Worth of XRP to Coinbase, Bitstamp, Bybit
Jan 31, 2025 at 01:29 am
Major cryptocurrency exchange XRP has seen a significant increase in activity, with a wallet co-activated by Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen transferring over $109 million XRP to Coinbase, Bitstamp, and Bybit. On-chain investigator ZachXBT highlighted the transactions, noting that the funds originated from the XRP wallet address “rhREXVH…Etjna.”
While neither Ripple nor Larsen has commented on the transfers, large movements of XRP by wallets connected to Ripple's founders have attracted market attention. Some suggest the transfers could be for liquidity management, while others speculate on potential sell-offs.
Pump.fun’s Large SOL Transfers Continue: 880K to Kraken
Solana-based meme coin platform Pump.fun has continued offloading SOL tokens. Today, January 30, another 98,000 SOL was transferred to Kraken, bringing the total amount moved this month to 880,877 SOL. At Solana’s price of $241 per token, the total offloaded figure is worth approximately $212.3 million.
The large-scale movement of SOL to exchanges has sparked speculation about potential sell-offs in the market. Pump.fun, a platform for launching and trading meme coins on Solana, has come under increased scrutiny due to its massive token movements.
XRP Whale Activity Surges to Record High
XRP is also seeing a massive surge in whale activity, with the number of wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million XRP hitting an all-time high of 2,083. This accumulation suggests growing confidence among large investors, as such XRP buying sprees often indicate expectations of a price rally.
On January 29, XRP briefly touched $3.20 before retracing to $3.10. Analysts suggest that a decisive move past $3.40 could clear the path for a potential push beyond $4, creating optimism among retail investors.
Solana-based DogWifTools Suffers $10M Exploit
In other news, the Solana-based platform DogWifTools fell victim to a $10 million exploit, specifically targeting versions 1.6.3 to 1.6.6 of its software. Hackers gained access to the project's private GitHub repository, injected malicious code into software updates, and distributed them to users.
The malware installed a file called “updater.exe,” which stole private keys and looted funds from both hot and cold wallets. Victims also reported losing access to their Binance and Coinbase accounts, suggesting that the malware may have extracted sensitive identity documents.
While some community members accused DogWifTools of a “rug pull,” there is no evidence to support this claim. However, features such as volume automation and token bundling may have made the platform an attractive target for attackers.
