Coins are becoming less popular with the rise of digital banking, but they're still a valuable part of society. Some people may prefer the old-fashioned method of paying for things with shrapnel in your pocket.
While coins always represent the financial value they're worth, there can be rare cases where special versions or incorrectly minted ones can hold a lot more value.
That rings true for the 20p that may be floating around in your purse or wallet. In 2008, around 250,000 coins were printed with an error that made than valuable to coin collectors. The error saw a key detail missed off the coins, which was the date.

Such 20p coins with a missing date can be listed for as much as £100, according to Britannia Coin Company. As reported by The Sun, one of these unique 20p coins fetched £137 when it was sold on eBay.
There were a total of 28 bids during the auction which ended on August 26. The coin featured a Tudor rose design and the date had been on either side on the old 'tales' (reverse) side.
However, the date was moved to the 'heads' side instead when the coin featured a new shield design. But a number of coins were manufactured with the old 'heads' design and the new 'tails' deign were combined, meaning there was no date.
This made the 20p coins mules and they featured designs on either side which aren't usually seen together.
