Qubic Becomes the Fastest Blockchain in History — Verified at 15.52M TPS by CertiK
Apr 23, 2025 at 03:01 am
Qubic has officially achieved the fastest transaction speed ever recorded on a blockchain, hitting 15.52 million transactions per second (TPS)
Qubic has reached the fastest transaction speed ever recorded on a blockchain, hitting 15.52 million transactions per second (TPS) on its live Layer 1 mainnet. The result was independently verified and published by CertiK, a leading blockchain security and auditing firm.
Unlike many previous tests conducted in isolated environments or simulated networks, this milestone was achieved in a live mainnet setting — with no rollups, no gas fees, and no Layer 2 dependencies.
The Qubic team conducted a live stress test on mainnet using its native tick-based architecture, which compresses transactions and data into single 'ticks' for optimized throughput.
While the test session spanned a longer runtime with many ticks executed, the certified performance result — 15.52 million TPS and 1.518 billion transfers— is drawn from the 10 peak ticks, highlighting the sustained performance levels.
Key Metrics (verified by CertiK):
* TPS: 15,519,897
* Total runtime: ~2400 seconds
* Total Ticks: 657
* Total Transfers: 1,518,306,092
* Average Transactions per Tick: 2,303,007
Compared to leading networks:
* BTC: 7 TPS
* VISA: 65,000 TPS
output: Qubic, the Layer 1 blockchain featuring a novel tick-based architecture and uPoW (unified Proof of Work) economic model, has officially achieved the fastest transaction speed ever recorded on a blockchain.
On Thursday, CertiK, a renowned blockchain security and auditing company, independently verified and published the results of its testing, which showed that Qubic reached an astounding 15.52 million transactions per second (TPS) with 1.518 billion transfers.
The testing was conducted on a sustained basis over 10 ticks, showcasing the consistently high performance levels attained by the Qubic network.
In a statement announcing the milestone, Qubic noted that it is the "fastest TPS ever reported for a sustained period on a live mainnet Layer 1 blockchain."
It added that the testing was completed on mainnet with no rollups, gas fees, or Layer 2 dependencies.
The testing was focused on a sustained period runtime with many ticks executed.
The testing was completed on the Qubic mainnet, which launched in December.
Earlier this year, Qubic said it hit a speed of 20 million TPS during a testing phase.
The new TPS speed is even faster than the 100,000 TPS that blockchain analytics firm Nansen reported in March as being the fastest ever reached by a Layer 1.
According to Nansen, the speed was reached by a newly launched Layer 1 chain, which had an "unreal throughput in its early testing stages."
At the time, Nansen said the new chain was capable of executing 100,000s of TPS in an "almost linear fashion with the simulation time."
It added that the new chain was also able to achieve "extremely fast latency with 1-2 seconds for 100,000 transactions."
At the time, Nansen said the fastest Layer 1 in terms of TPS was Solana, which reached a speed of 65,000 TPS in 2021.
However, Solana’s performance was achieved in an ideal testing environment, and it usually processes about 500 TPS in its live mainnet.
Meanwhile, according to Statista, the total volume of transactions completed on major card payment services in 2022 was about 168 billion.
That same year, around 1.5 billion transactions were completed on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Credit card giant Visa's network can handle up to 65,000 transactions per second.
Despite the impressive speeds achieved by crypto networks, they are still far from reaching the capacity of services like Visa.
What is Qubic?
Qubic is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain designed for real-time decentralized compute. It is powered by a novel unified Proof of Work (uPoW) economic model and a tick-based consensus architecture.
The network features zero-fee transactions, instant finality, and unparalleled throughput, making it ideal for use cases such as AI, DePIN, DeFi, and AGI-level applications.
The network is also highly scalable and can be easily expanded to meet the needs of future use cases.
What is CertiK?
CertiK is a pioneer in blockchain security, revolutionizing Web3 with its broad suite of audit, monitoring, and formal verification services for smart contracts and protocols.
The company is on a mission to secure the future of blockchain and ensure the safety of crypto users.
