Pump.Fun's Official X (formerly Twitter) Account Was Compromised on February 26

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Pump.Fun was compromised on February 26, with hackers using the platform to promote a fraudulent governance token named “PUMP.”

The breach is part of a growing trend of social media hacks targeting the crypto community. Blockchain investigator ZackXBT quickly alerted users about the security breach.

“Pump.fun's X account has been hacked. Stay away from the page and do not engage with any links shared through it,” said ZackXBT, highlighting the risks associated with the hacker’s activities.

The unauthorized posts on Pump.fun’s X account falsely promoted the “PUMP” token, presenting it as an official governance initiative.

One of the fraudulent messages reads: "Pump.Fun is launching its governance token to reward the early supporters (OG degens) who have been with us since the beginning.

The token will grant holders the right to vote on important proposals regarding the future direction of Pump.fun. Together, we will decide what's next for the platform and ensure its long-term success."

The deceptive messaging aimed to lure users into interacting with malicious links.

"We are aware of the X account breach and are working to regain control of the account. Please note that any messages, links, or mentions of a 'PUMP' governance token are fraudulent. We will keep the community updated through official channels," a Pump.fun staff member warned on Telegram.

This attack adds to a growing list of cybersecurity incidents in the crypto sector. In recent weeks, multiple platforms have faced social media takeovers designed to scam users with tokens and phishing links.

The Pump.fun hack follows closely after the Bybit breach, in which $1.4 billion was stolen, marking one of the largest security failures in crypto history.
