Numismatics, the study and collection of coins, paper money, tokens, medals and related objects, is indeed a serious and a meticulous hobby.

A hobbyist who finds joy in collecting these treasures knows that it is an interest that requires careful scrutiny to ensure that all collections are authentic and genuine.

For collectors, authentication is the stamp that marks every collection of its high value and worth, not only of its price but also of its notable history.

When it comes to authentication and grading services for coins, banknotes, and other esteemed collectibles, the Professional Coin Grading Service or PCGS is the world’s leading authentication and grading company for high-value collectibles.

As a testament to its credibility and authority, PCGS joined Minted MNL Summer Show and Auction, a two-day numismatics gathering in the Philippines held at Westin Manila Hotel in Pasig City and delivered top-notch services as a partner in authenticating some of the rare coin collections which were up for grabs in the recent auction.

Minted MNL gave its trust to PCGS in validating the value and history of some of the rare pieces of collections that included a 1766 Barilla coin minted in Manila, a four-real Mexican coin from the 19th century, and an eight-real coin from the Iturbide Empire in Mexico, which was the most expensive piece of collection sold that day at S$72,000.

During the event, Sigrid Carandang, chairman of Minted MNL, emphasized that authenticity of collected items is important in the collectibles markets.

“We want to make sure that all the lots in our auctions are genuine,” Carandang said.

To ensure the credibility of its auctions, Minted MNL said it partnered with PCGS and Certified Collectibles Group — the gold standards and global leaders in authentication, according to Carandang.

Since 1986, PCGS delivers top-notch services to collectors who want to guarantee maximum value, security, and liquidity of their collections. The company have world-renowned numismatic experts who utilize the most consistent standard in the industry in evaluating vintage and modern numismatic items for encapsulation and grading.

Its major business covers vintage coin grading service, Morden coin/ medal grading service, banknote grading service, restoration service, and novelties and merchandise.

Its presence in Asia including countries like South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines, added with its worldwide influence in grading and certifying coins from more than 100 countries, indeed makes it a global leader in the industry.

As of December 2020, PCGS has certified more than 45 million coins with a total market value of S41.7 billion all over the world. It also marked its auction world record in authenticating the world’s most expensive coin- the 1933 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle at S$18,872,250; and the 1890 $1,000 Treasury Note. Its company-graded coins continue to break records in auctions around the world.
