President-elect Donald Trump Is Reportedly Considering an “America-first” Crypto Reserve Strategy

President-elect Donald Trump is considering an “America-first” crypto reserve strategy that would prioritize digital assets founded in the U.S., according to a report by the New York Post.

Trump has met with the founders of several U.S.-based crypto projects, including Solana (SOL), USD Coin (USDC), and Ripple (XRP), sources told the NYP. The president-elect is said to be receptive to the idea of including these coins in a crypto reserve.

The proposal would align with Trump's broader pledge to prioritize American interests in various sectors, including technology and finance. However, the move could raise concerns among Bitcoin proponents, who have been advocating for the apex cryptocurrency to be designated as the primary digital asset in the U.S. crypto landscape, a promise that Trump also made during his campaign.

Despite these concerns, industry insiders are optimistic about the broader impact of Trump's pro-crypto agenda. The incoming administration has already announced plans to issue executive orders that would deregulate the crypto sector, establish a Crypto Presidential Advisory Council, and repeal restrictive policies such as SAB 121, which would pave the way for banks to offer crypto custody services.

Additionally, the administration aims to position the U.S. as a global hub for Bitcoin mining, an initiative that could further bolster the domestic crypto industry. To lead this effort, Trump has appointed investor David Sacks as the nation's first AI and Crypto Czar.

In a further display of support for the crypto community, a celebratory Crypto Ball is scheduled to be held on Jan. 19, with sponsors including Coinbase, Solana, and Kraken. The event, which will coincide with Trump's inauguration, is expected to bring together crypto enthusiasts, industry executives, and government officials.
