President Donald Trump Plans To Reveal His Bitcoin Reserve Strategy This Friday

Mar 06, 2025 at 08:00 pm

Howard Lutnick, the Commerce Secretary, recently shared in an interview on Tuesday that President Donald Trump plans to reveal his Bitcoin reserve strategy.

President Donald Trump Plans To Reveal His Bitcoin Reserve Strategy This Friday

President Donald Trump is planning to reveal his strategy for a U.S. Bitcoin reserve, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has said.

During an interview with Pavlovic Today on Tuesday, Lutnick shared that the president will unveil plans for his "strategic crypto reserve" during the White House's inaugural crypto summit this Friday.

"We'll be able to report on Friday what the president's plans are for his strategic crypto reserve," Lutnick said. "It's something that we're closely following and I think it will be interesting to see how it unfolds."

The Commerce Secretary explained that Bitcoin will have a “new status” once President Trump reveals his plans, in contrast to other cryptocurrencies.

"Bitcoin is one thing, and then the other currencies, the other cryptos, will be treated differently—positively but differently," Lutnick added.

President Trump's recent social media posts also confirm the Commerce Secretary's comments as he continues to voice his support for the creation of crypto reserves anchored by Bitcoin.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump shared, "A U.S. Crypto Reserve will elevate this critical industry after years of corrupt attacks by the Biden Administration, which is why my Executive Order on Digital Assets directed the Presidential Working Group to move forward on a Crypto Strategic Reserve that includes XRP, SOL, and ADA. I will make sure the U.S. is the Crypto Capital of the World. We are MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

The president's comments come amid increasing interest in cryptocurrency from both the public and private sectors. Earlier this year, President Trump expressed skepticism towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but his stance appears to be shifting as the administration has begun to take a deeper interest in the industry.

Earlier this year, President Trump's administration began exploring the possibility of creating a U.S. Bitcoin futures ETF as part of broader efforts to integrate cryptocurrencies into the mainstream financial system.

The administration was also examining the potential economic impact of a large-scale U.S. bitcoin futures ETF, considering its implications for jobs, trade, and the overall economy.

The initiative to create a bitcoin futures ETF was assigned to the Presidential Working Group on Financial Markets, also known as the "Volcker Alliance," which is tasked with advising the president on matters related to the financial industry.

The move to include bitcoin futures in an ETF format was seen as a step towards increasing institutional investment in cryptocurrency.

Following Howard Lutnick's statement about President Trump's plan to launch a U.S. Bitcoin reserve, the price of BTC surged.

As of the time of writing, BTC stands at over $90k, and many crypto investors view the proposed Bitcoin reserve as a step forward in the institutional adoption of BTC.

This year, Bitcoin has faced significant challenges due to the volatility of the market and President Donald Trump's announcement of tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China.

Due to the new tariffs placed, BTC fell from its high of $100,000 to about $80,000.

However, due to the proposed U.S. Bitcoin reserve, some crypto enthusiasts speculate that BTC may reclaim the $100,000 mark.

Former CoinDesk Editor in chief Pete Rizzo shared his opinion concerning the Bitcoin Reserve on X stating "This is massive".

On Friday, the White House Crypto Summit will be held and this event will be attended by various industry leaders as reported by FOX Business Journalist Eleanor Terett.

Among the confirmed attendees are Michael Saylor the executive chairman of strategy, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenec, Sergei Nazarov Chainlink's co-founder, to mention a few.

There is increased optimism that President Donald Trump’s announcement of a Bitcoin Reserve Strategy will trigger a wave of massive buying interest not just for Bitcoin but also for other cryptocurrencies in the market.

According to David Sacks, the White House AI and crypto advisor, President Trump will hold the first White House Crypto Summit on March 7. The event is geared at maintaining definitive regulatory structure for cryptocurrency by fostering innovation.
