U.S. President Donald Trump has faced criticism for once again seeking private interests using presidential power.
U.S. President Donald Trump has faced criticism for once again seeking private interests using presidential power.
According to a report by Bloomberg on the 23rd (local time), Trump announced that he would host an evening dinner inviting 220 top holders of his meme coin 'Official Trump.'
The dinner will take place at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington D.C. on the 26th, and the president will be personally delivering an "intimate message" about the future of virtual assets.
The event will also include a tour of the White House for the top 25 coin holders, who will be granted special reception before dinner.
Those who purchased the most of the meme coin, currently ranked No. 1 with 400,000 coins, will be able to attend the event.
The minimum amount required to be ranked in the top 220 is 5,000 coins, which is valued at 900,000 in Korean currency.
The top 25 coin holders will also have the opportunity to tour the White House the day after the event.
The invitation from Get Trump Mims
The invitation from Get Trump Mims (gettrumpmemes.com), the official website of Mimcoin Official Trump, reads: "The world's most 'exclusive invitation' for only the top 220 Trump meme coin holders."
"Listen to President Donald Trump's intimate story about the future of virtual assets called Crypto at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington D.C. on Thursday, August 26th."
"The evening will conclude with a special tour of the White House for the top 25 coin holders."
The homepage also provides a ranking of Official Trump Holder in real time.
In other words, it induces competition for investors to invest more.
The No. 1 holder already has 400,000 official Trumps, which is worth 7.2 billion in Korean money.
There are also voices of criticism over Trump's actions.
Among them, Corey Frayer, who was in charge of cryptocurrency policy at the U.S. Securities Supervisory Service (SEC) in the Biden administration, expressed his views on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Is this an out-of-touch billionaire's fever dream or has the fabric of reality been torn open to reveal the true nature of the universe?" Frayer asked.
"Inviting the 220 biggest holders of a meme coin to an evening dinner with the president of the United States and a tour of the White House. It feels like they're institutionalizing meeting powerful people by paying."
"Maybe I'm just having a bad dream."
Official Trump Coin has returned some of its gains after rising 76% in an instant following the announcement.
Despite the heating up interest, the coin value seems to be gradually decreasing.
According to the data from Token Terminal as of 2:30 pm on the 23rd, the coin price dropped to 0.016$, showing a 40.63% increase from the previous day.
