Praxis and Blockstream Grab Headlines This Week With Six-Figure Funding Rounds Each

Cryptocurrency venture capital (VC) funding saw a noticeable spike over the last seven days compared to last week, when Ithaca led the pack with a $20 million raise.
However, this week, as Bitcoin (BTC) price reclaimed the $68,000 level, crypto.news analyzed and collected data from data from Oct. 13 to Oct. 19.
Here are the firms that topped the list, according to Crypto Fundraising.
Praxis raised $525 million in a Series B funding round, led by Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group, with participation from Ribbit Capital, Coatue, Altimeter Capital, and Andressen Horowitz. The capital will be used to expand the firm’s footprint in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Blockstream has closed a $210 million convertible note financing round led by Fulgur Ventures, driving our mission to bring Bitcoin into global finance. This capital accelerates layer-2 development, expands mining ahead of the next Bitcoin cycle, and grows one of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining operations.
Azra Games announced its $42.7 million Series A, led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, A Capital and NFX. The firm will use the capital to launch its debut title, expand its team and studio presence, and continue developing new Web3 games.
Yellow Card Financial raised $33 million in Series C funding, led by Blockchain Capital, to expand its footprint in Africa and enhance its API and Widget products for seamless international payments.
Towns, an on-chain messaging platform, launched today and announced a $25.5 million raise from Andreessen Horowitz.
