Polymarket Users Expect Berachain and Linea Protocol to Launch Their Airdrops in the First Quarter of This Year
Jan 05, 2025 at 12:35 am
A small Polymarket poll with $22,000 in assets places the odds of Berachain's airdrop at 90% and Linear at 89%.
Polymarket users are eagerly awaiting the launch of airdrops from two prominent crypto projects, Berachain and Linea Protocol, within the first quarter of this year.
According to a small Polymarket poll, which has $22,000 in assets, the probability of a Berachain airdrop is 90%, while the likelihood of a Linear airdrop is 89%.
A closer look at Berachain and its ecosystem reveals that the layer-1 network has been expanding rapidly. At the heart of its ecosystem lies a suite of DeFi-related applications.
BEX, a Uniswap (UNI) rival, facilitates seamless token swaps, and BEND serves as an Aave (AAVE) competitor for borrowing and lending. Additionally, BERPS enables users to trade their preferred tokens, and BGT Station facilitates participation in BGT’s governance. These ecosystem dApps are interconnected by HONEY, the project’s native stablecoin.
On-chain data further reveals that Berachain’s network has processed over 533 million transactions since its inception. Notably, a significant portion of these transactions, 57.14 million, have occurred within the past 14 days. Moreover, the number of active addresses on Berachain has surged from 945,000 on Dec. 15 to nearly 3 million at present.
Turning our attention to Linea, we observe a layer-2 network that leverages zero-knowledge technology to enhance the Ethereum network’s capabilities. It competes with other L2 networks such as Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism.
On-chain data shows that Linea has handled over 241 million transactions within its network. Within the last 14 days, it has processed nearly 240,000 transactions.
Furthermore, Linea has amassed over $383 million in locked value, according to additional data. Mendi, ZeroLend, and Lynex are among the key ecosystem participants.
It’s worth noting that Consensys, a leading crypto company that has raised over $450 million from Third Point, ParaFi, and Softbank, is behind Linea. The airdrop will be overseen by the Linea Foundation, a Swiss organization that was established in November of last year.
In recent times, we’ve seen several well-known crypto projects, including zkSync, EigenLayer, Wormhole, LayerZero and Hamster Kombat, launch their airdrops with varying degrees of success. For instance, Wormhole’s token has seen an 82% drop from its listing high, while EigenLayer is down by 30%.
