Pepe Coin (PEPE) and PlutoChain ($PLUTO): Two Projects That Could Shake the Crypto World
Feb 13, 2025 at 02:00 am
The meme-inspired Pepe Coin (PEPE) is seeing some interesting market activity, with big investors buying in despite a 29% price drop.
The meme-coin hype continues unabated in 2023, and one token that has seen some interesting market activity is Pepe Coin (PEPE). Despite a 29% price drop over the past month, two major whales have purchased hundreds of billions of PEPE tokens.
At the same time, a new hybrid Layer-2 solution called PlutoChain ($PLUTO) is built to potentially improve Bitcoin’s speed, reduce fees, and expand its capabilities.
Here’s the latest on both projects.
Whale Watching: Pepe Coin (PEPE) Sees Big Investments as Price Drops Nearly 29%
As of writing, Pepe Coin (PEPE) trades at around $0.00009575, up 0.7% in the last 24 hours. The market has been active, with $821 million in trading volume over the past day.
One whale, linked to the wallet “0x8f5,” recently withdrew 280 billion PEPE tokens (worth about $5 million) from Binance. This same investor had also bought $1.54 million worth of JASMY tokens, which is probably a part of a broader crypto strategy.
Another whale, “0xb1a,” purchased 200.4 billion PEPE for $3.72 million USDC. Interestingly, this investor had previously lost $1.45 million on PEPE but is now buying back in.
These large purchases come as PEPE’s price has dropped nearly 29% over the past month. However, trading volume is up 16.5% in the last 24 hours, which suggests that interest in the token is still strong.
Bobby Bean sets a price target of $0.018 but also thinks PEPE could collapse before reaching that level.

PlutoChain ($PLUTO): The Hybrid Layer-2 Upgrade That Could Make Bitcoin Faster, Cheaper, Usable for Everyday Transactions and DeFi
Bitcoin transformed digital finance, but it still struggles as a practical payment method. Slow processing times, high fees, and limited functionality have kept it from being widely used for daily transactions.
Enter PlutoChain ($PLUTO), a hybrid Layer-2 solution designed to potentially accelerate Bitcoin transactions while reducing their cost.
Instead of Bitcoin’s standard 10-minute block time, PlutoChain offers a block time of just two seconds on its own Layer-2 chain. This speed boost could make Bitcoin useful for everyday purchases, online payments, and cross-border transfers without frustrating delays.
Another major advantage is its lower transaction costs. Bitcoin’s fees often make small payments inefficient and discourage everyday use. PlutoChain could significantly cut costs and make Bitcoin a more practical option for both businesses and individuals.
But, PlutoChain isn’t just about payments — it could also expand Bitcoin’s capabilities. By integrating Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, it may enable DeFi applications, NFTs, and AI-driven blockchain projects to run on Bitcoin’s network, which could lead to entirely new use cases.
Security is at the core of PlutoChain’s vision. It has undergone audits by SolidProof, QuillAudits, and Assure DeFi to make sure the platform remains secure. Furthermore, ongoing stress tests and code reviews help maintain reliability.
Scalability is another key feature. In testing, PlutoChain handled over 43,200 transactions in a single day, which proves it can support high traffic without congestion.
Finally, unlike Bitcoin’s miner-controlled development, PlutoChain allows users to propose and vote on upgrades, maintaining a community-driven and transparent ecosystem.
By addressing Bitcoin’s biggest challenges, PlutoChain could help transform it into a fast, low-cost, and widely accepted digital currency for real-world use.
