Paul McCartney Magic Piano Silver Proof Coins Sell for $38400 Each
Mar 25, 2025 at 02:45 am
The rest of the collection consisted of four silver pieces, which featured vibrant hand-enameling within a graphic of Paul's psychedelic Magic Piano.
Paul McCartney is a British musician, singer, songwriter, and composer. He is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed musicians in history.
McCartney began his career in the 1960s as a member of the Beatles, widely regarded as the greatest and most influential band in the history of popular music. The group broke up in 1970, and McCartney went on to enjoy a successful solo career. He has released 18 studio albums and sold over 100 million records worldwide.
McCartney's music is known for its melodic beauty, harmonic richness, and lyrical depth. He has written some of the most enduring songs in the English language, including "Yesterday," "Hey Jude," and "Let It Be."
In addition to his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist, McCartney has also collaborated with other musicians, composed classical music, and written a best-selling autobiography.
McCartney is a seven-time Grammy Award winner and a two-time Academy Award nominee. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
In 2023, The Royal Mint unveiled a limited-edition coin collection celebrating Sir Paul McCartney's phenomenal contribution to music.
The collection includes four silver coins, which feature vibrant hand-enameling within a graphic of Paul’s psychedelic Magic Piano.
The set is part of The Royal Mint's Music Legends series and marks the largest silver Proof coins in the series. This is the first time Paul has been honored with a British coin and he is incredibly grateful for the tribute.
"This feels like a huge honour. It's not anything I would have ever expected to happen when I was a kid," Paul said.
The gold and silver coins were presented exclusively in a Stack's Bowers Galleries sale.
During the special auction, the gold piece sold for $600,000, which makes it the most valuable modern British coin ever sold. The silver coins were priced at $38,400 each.
