Otherworld announced that it will release the digital collection platform 'Solo Leveling: Unlimited (SL:U)' based on the popular Korean webtoon 'Solo Leveling'
Digital collection platform 'Solo Leveling: Unlimited (SL:U)', based on the popular Korean webtoon 'Solo Leveling', which has recorded 14.3 billion cumulative views worldwide, will be released to the public on December 23. Otherworld announced that it will start the first season 'Prologue'. This service will be operated on the independently configured Layer 1 Space network by Otherworld, adopting the subnet network technology of Avalanche (AVAX).
SL:U faithfully implements the story, characters, and style of the original IP 'Solo Leveling', which achieved global mega-hit status, into the digital collection platform. The storyline and world where the protagonist opens dungeon gates, hunts monsters, and grows are reflected as the main concept of SL:U, designed to allow not only fans of the original but also new users to feel the high level of immersion of the original. 'Solo Leveling' has grown from a web novel published in 2016 to a webtoon, animation, and game, gaining worldwide popularity and expanding its ecosystem. This work is especially recognized as a representative piece that has raised the status of Korean webtoons in the global market with its original story and charming characters, boasting a strong fan base in North America, Japan, and more.
SL:U is composed of an immersive collection and reward (Collect to Earn) system where users open dungeon gates and level up collected monster cards. Users can upgrade collected cards, which is different from existing collectible cards, and users with high-grade cards receive weekly rewards. Additionally, limited edition Shadow Lord NFTs will be awarded to top-ranking users each season. The reward system is blockchain-based, making it transparently open to everyone how much and to whom rewards are given, fundamentally solving issues of probability manipulation and reward amounts frequently occurring in existing game developers.
Otherworld, while incorporating blockchain technology, provides a service convenient for the general public to use, leading the popularization of blockchain technology. SL:U offers login with familiar SNS accounts and easy payment and credit card payment functions. Existing blockchain services had the inconvenience of having to log in with a blockchain wallet and the hassle of having to pay with cryptocurrency for transactions and payments. This has been a major factor causing the general public to give up using the service due to the very inconvenient experience. Otherworld provides the service through collaboration with Avalanche and Crossmint to solve this.
Otherworld operates its own L1 network Space but also supports asset movement and linkage between other networks, expanding the blockchain ecosystem. Through collaboration with Nestree and LayerZero, it provides a service that allows easy and fast transfer to various networks through the Nestree Bridge, offering token and NFT network movement and swap functions. Additionally, Otherworld's OWN token will be added as one of the payment methods in SL:U, and various use cases will be provided starting with SL:U. SL:U has also announced various collaborations targeting the global market, planning joint marketing through a partnership with Animoca Brands' Animation Foundation, and will introduce a product lineup including NFTs in collaboration with the Korean cosmetics brand VT-Cosmetic, which is gaining sensational popularity in Japan.
Otherworld holds the exclusive Web3 business rights for 26 IPs of popular webtoons on KakaoPage, including 'Solo Leveling' and 'Ranker Who Lives a Second Time', and plans to secure more IPs in the future to break down the boundaries between Web2 and Web3 and expand the worldview of digital content. Additionally, in collaboration with Cube Entertainment, it plans to build an ecosystem where fans can actively enjoy content through NFT collection and trading using K-pop artist IPs.
