Orbiter Finance and Azuki-Linked Anime Reveal Token Generation Event (TGE) Dates, Aligning with President-elect Donald Trump's Inauguration
Jan 17, 2025 at 10:09 pm
Layer-2 (L2) scaling solution Orbiter Finance and Anime, an Azuki-linked project, have both announced the dates for their Token Generation Events (TGEs), which will take place in the same week.
The TGEs also happen to coincide with President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, giving traders and investors a heads-up to prepare for volatility in the markets.
Orbiter Finance Announces TGE Date
In a statement shared on X (Twitter), Orbiter Finance revealed the TGE date for its OBT token, which will be Monday, January 20. The token generation event will serve as a way to reward early adopters and participants in the Orbiter Finance ecosystem. Details regarding eligibility and the distribution mechanics are expected to be announced closer to the event.
“Orbiter Finance’s token TGE on Jan 20, 2025.”
The announcement highlighted the network’s growth journey since its inception three years ago, revealing that it has garnered up to 4.3 million users, facilitated over $28 billion in transactions, and completed over 35 million transactions. Notably, a decentralized team of smart contract experts and engineers developed the project.
“This milestone airdrop represents our gratitude to our amazing community that has supported and shaped our journey from the beginning,” Orbiter added.
OBT is an ERC-20 governance and utility token designed to drive the protocol’s vision of an omni-chain future and mass adoption of Web3 technologies. It will launch on Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Base networks with a total supply of 10 billion.
The announcement comes just five months after Orbiter Finance reported an impressive $50 million in annual revenue, which reflects the growing adoption of L2 solutions. However, the journey has not been without challenges. Two years ago, Orbiter Finance faced a cybersecurity incident when hackers targeted its Discord server with a fake airdrop scam.
Anime TGE, Community Response
The OBT TGE will add to the list of token generation events expected next week. ANIME, the token powering the open Anime universe, will set its TGE for January 23, 2025, just three days after OBT’s debut.
“ANIME is launching on January 23.”
Anime’s TGE is generating buzz among airdrop hunters and NFT enthusiasts. Specifically, its unique allocation mechanics, which use Collector Score (CS) points rather than solely NFT ownership, have drawn interest. Murkiwaters, an airdrop hunter, detailed the potential value of ANIME allocations.
“At $2 billion FDV [fully diluted valuation], 1 CS point is worth $30, assuming 25 million total CS points available. Base CS points: Azuki (1,000), Elementals (100), Beanz (67), Bobu (4).”
Further, the airdrop hunter also noted the significant values for individual NFTs indicating $30,000 for Azuki, $3,000 for Elementals, $2,010 for Beanz, and $120 for Bobu. However, not everyone is impressed by the market reaction. NFT investor LilStovetop noted the lack of a significant price surge for Anime-related NFTs despite the announcement.
“The ANIME TGE is set for January 23rd but now that the date is announced (6 days away) we’re not seeing a huge run up on the floor price like we saw with Penguins. Azuki: 13.5 ETH Elementals: 1.67 ETH Beanz: 0.81 ETH Why is this.”
Hyperliquid’s HYPE stakers will also receive Anime’s token airdrop, which will serve as an incentive for community participation.
