Nexo Donates 1 BTC to Brink, Bolstering Bitcoin Core Development Efforts
Dec 19, 2024 at 06:32 pm
On HODL Day, a celebration of long-term commitment to Bitcoin, Nexo has taken a significant step toward fortifying the Bitcoin network
Cryptocurrency platform Nexo has donated 1 BTC to Brink, a non-profit organization that supports Bitcoin Core development, in celebration of HODL Day.
The donation, valued at approximately $105,000, will contribute to Brink's efforts to ensure the security and resilience of the Bitcoin network. This includes funding initiatives such as fuzz testing, bug fixes, and essential network updates.
Brink is aiming to raise $1.5 million in total for 2024, and Nexo's donation will cover around 7% of this goal. The funds will be used to support a team of engineers working on various aspects of Bitcoin software development.
This includes code review, testing, and other activities outlined in Brink's recent annual report.
“Brink is very grateful for this 1 BTC contribution from Nexo to our developer funding efforts! The funds will be used to support our engineers' work of securing Bitcoin software through their efforts of fuzz testing, code review, and other projects outlined in our recent annual report. Thank you Nexo!
— Mike Schmidt, Executive Director, Brink
The donation will also contribute to the organization's wider mission to promote innovation, decentralization, and the long-term sustainability of Bitcoin.
According to Elitsa Taskova, CPO at Nexo, Bitcoin Core developers play a crucial role in maintaining the network's security, innovation, and decentralized nature.
By supporting their work, Nexo aims to ensure that Bitcoin remains a valuable asset for future generations.
“Bitcoin Core developers are Bitcoin’s unsung guardians. By supporting their work, we help ensure that Bitcoin remains the most secure, innovative, and decentralized asset for future generations. This donation will directly fund Brink’s developers and is a testament to our shared responsibility to safeguard Bitcoin’s future. Stepping in to support critical development work that relies on contributions like these to move forward is crucial for the digital asset industry and we hope it inspires others to recognize the importance of funding Bitcoin Core development for securing the network’s future for millions worldwide.“
— Elitsa Taskova, CPO, Nexo
Nexo has previously supported Bitcoin development through contributions to Brink, and this latest donation aligns with the platform's broader mission to secure Bitcoin's future for a global community of HODLers.
Earlier this year, Nexo and Brink collaborated on the Bitcoin emoji initiative, a campaign to unite the global community around a shared symbol of technological innovation and resilience.
This partnership and donation highlight the collective efforts being made to strengthen and sustain the Bitcoin network for the benefit of present and future users.

- Looking back now, it actually feels quite interesting. This isn't hindsight content

- This isn't hindsight content, but I also haven't done a good job of shorting it. Even if I shorted the rebound to 2150, my position wouldn't hold up. So the current market situation is really hard for me.
