The makers of the popular Ethereum-based combat arena game Moonray announced they will release free-to-mint non-fungible token-based skin characters.
A new web3 arena battler game, Moonray, has announced plans to launch a free-to-mint non-fungible token collection. The game, which is built on the Ethereum layer-2 scaling blockchain network Base, will integrate in-game NFTs, character skins, and token wagering.
Moonray, a third-person multiplayer combat game set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe, allows players to engage in solo or team-based combat. The game features fast-paced combat with dodging, parries, ranged attacks, grappling abilities, and more.
Visuals are powered by Unreal Engine, while blockchain integration is handled by the Ethereum network, enabling a decentralized in-game economy. Moonray is also backed by Animoca Brands, Cordano, P2 Ventures, Long Hash Ventures, and other venture capital firms, with a total valuation of $8.5 million.
The game aims to combine gaming, NFTs, esports, and traditional media to create a comprehensive gaming ecosystem. By integrating Base, Moonray will also introduce a token-based wagering system, expanding on the eSports aspect of the game.
Commenting on the NFT project and integration, Hans Andersson, CBO and co-founder of Moonray Studio, said:
“To achieve broad adoption, you need to focus on the gamer and what brings value to them. In-game cosmetics are nothing new and something the vast majority of gamers enjoy. The Base blockchain allows us to offer true ownership of those digital items, giving players the flexibility they deserve.”
Moonray’s NFT mint will go live today, November 19, 2024, and will allow collectors to unleash the exclusive power of Jadeon Adam, a unique avatar usable in the arena combat game. The mint will last two days, and the NFT skins will be available for purchase and trade on the OpenSea NFT marketplace.
This limited-time event offers players the chance to own exclusive NFT skin characters that will enhance their gaming experience.
