The new HBO Original piece is titled “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery.” The documentary will be available via HBO MAX streaming, and it will explore the origins and rise of the currency dubbed “digital gold.”
HBO Max is set to premiere a new Original piece titled “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery.” The documentary will delve into the origins and rise of the popular cryptocurrency, revealing the identity of its enigmatic creator.
The streaming platform recently shared a trailer for the upcoming show on Twitter, teasing viewers with the highly anticipated reveal. The予告片 reads: “In the future of money, who holds the power? The HBO Original Documentary #MoneyElectric: The Bitcoin Mystery premieres October 8 on @StreamOnMax.”
The予告片 also includes a brief clip from the documentary, hinting at the massive wealth of the person who might be revealed as the creator of Bitcoin. The voiceover in the clip says, “He could be the world's richest person.”
While the予告片 does not reveal the identity of the person who might be credited with creating Bitcoin, it does highlight the enduring mystery surrounding the true creator of the cryptocurrency and its blockchain.
Over the years, several stories within the Bitcoin and crypto community have pointed to the possibility that Nakamoto might have mined over a million BTC before he handed over the network's code repository to Gavin Andresen. Andresen later became the lead developer of the Bitcoin Foundation.
In recent years, several journalists and independent investigators have pointed to various individuals who might be the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin. Among them, one person stood out in the search for the real Nakamoto: the infamous Australian computer scientist Dr. Craig Wright.
Earlier, Wright repeatedly claimed ownership of the Bitcoin whitepaper and the Nakamoto alias. However, the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) foiled his false pretenses in a UK court.
In the High Court, Wright failed to prove his claims, leading him to post legal notices stating that he was not Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, or the owner of the cryptocurrency's whitepaper.
During the trial, the court summoned people close to Nakamoto during the early stages of Bitcoin development to serve as witnesses, including Adam Back and Martti “Sirius” Malmi. Both men helped build the case against Wright.
However, official court documents never contained any solid hints about the real name of Bitcoin's inventor.
Andresen, despite his earlier interaction with the mysterious Nakamoto, either had his mouth sealed on the matter or he really didn't know the true person behind the alias.
The potential revelation of the person behind the Nakamoto moniker is also fueling FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) over how Bitcoin and the broader crypto market might react.
Doomsayers claim that the loss of its investor's anonymity might tank the crypto asset's prices, while others believe the truth could work in the digital asset's favor.
With just days left until the controversial documentary, all we can do is prepare for how it will ultimately steer market sentiment.
