New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium
Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand will take on Rohit Sharma's India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The final is a clash of the unbeaten sides as India completed the group stage with four wins out of four and went on to defeat Pakistan in the semifinal while New Zealand, who had three wins and one no-result in the group stage, beat South Africa in the last-four stage.
New Zealand will be hoping to carry on the good form that saw them win the 2000 edition of the tournament. They will also be looking to get one over on India, who they lost to by 44 runs in their opening match of the tournament.
India, on the other hand, will be aiming to win their third Champions Trophy title. They had previously won the tournament in 1998 and 2013.
The two teams have met twice in the Champions Trophy, with New Zealand winning both times. The first meeting was in the 2000 edition's final, which New Zealand won by four wickets. The second meeting was in the group stage of the 2025 edition, which India won by 43 runs.
The final is sure to be a closely contested affair as both teams are in excellent form. It will also be a battle of two of the best captains in the world, with Rohit and Santner both leading their teams with distinction throughout the tournament.
