MicroStrategy Increases Its Bitcoin (BTC) Holdings to 446,400 BTC, Plans More Purchases

Software firm MicroStrategy has added 2,138 BTC to its coffers, bringing its total stash to 446,400 BTC.

As per the firm's securities disclosure filings, the recent BTC purchase was made at an average price of $97,837 per coin, for a total cost of $209 million. This marks MicroStrategy’s eighth consecutive weekly Bitcoin purchase.

MicroStrategy now boasts an average acquisition price of $62,428 per BTC, having spent $27.9 billion on its BTC holdings since embarking on its Bitcoin strategy in 2020.

“We have acquired 2,138 BTC for ~$209 million at ~$97,837 per bitcoin and have achieved BTC Yield of 47.8% QTD and 74.1% YTD,” Saylor stated. “As of 12/29/2024, we hodl 446,400 $BTC acquired for ~$27.9 billion at ~$62,428 per bitcoin.”

Over the past two months, MicroStrategy has funded its Bitcoin acquisitions through an at-the-market program, which allows the company to raise capital by selling shares or securities.

With $6.88 billion remaining from its ATM program, it's likely that MicroStrategy will continue making weekly BTC purchases.

Bitcoin’s inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 has propelled Saylor's dotcom-era software developer to new heights. The company swiftly outpaced 30% of existing index members, garnering a 0.38% weighting in the index.

MSTR's stock price hit a high of $473.83 on Nov. 21, but the shares were trading at a 40% discount from their record high after Christmas.

Meanwhile, BTC's rally has also slowed, with the coin trading around $92,900 at the time of writing, down 13.9% from a $108,135 ATH recorded on Dec. 17.

Despite the coin's drawdown, MSTR was still the best-performing stock of 2024, surging 402% and outperforming Bitcoin’s 119% increase.
