Japanese company Metaplanet has increased its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings by 269.43 BTC, valued at roughly $26.3 million at the time of purchase. This latest acquisition brings the company’s total Bitcoin reserves to 2,031 BTC.
Metaplanet made the purchase at an average price of $97,481 per Bitcoin. With this addition, the company’s total Bitcoin investments now stand at around $163.3 million.
Metaplanet’s Bitcoin holdings have generated a 15.3% year-to-date return for 2025, highlighting the strong performance of Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market. As of mid-February, Metaplanet’s total valuation is estimated to be around $1.5 billion, with its Bitcoin assets valued at approximately $200 million.
Corporations are increasingly turning to cryptocurrency as part of their financial strategy, and Metaplanet’s move is a significant example of this trend. With traditional markets facing economic uncertainties, some companies are looking to Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and a long-term store of value.
