MemeBattle: Pixelverse Announces New Tactical Deck Builder Game Featuring Popular Cryptocurrency Memes as Playable Characters

Web3 gaming project Pixelverse has announced the launch of a new tactical deck builder game, which will see popular cryptocurrency memes transformed into playable characters.

In MemeBattle, players will be able to build squads using characters modeled after well-known meme coin mascots, including Brett the Shiba Inu (BRETT), Toshi the Shiba Inu (TOSHI), Keyboard Cat (KEYBOARD), Dog in Me (DINME), Mr. Miggles (MIGGLES), Mochi the Shiba Inu (MOCHI) and Ski Mask Dog (SKMASK). These squads will then be used to compete in battles, earning rewards for strategic victories.

“We're excited to introduce MemeBattle, a game that combines the fun and excitement of deck builders with the iconic world of crypto memes,” Pixelverse co-founder Kori Leon said in a statement.

Characters from other crypto projects, such as Pudgy Penguins (PENGUINS), Turbo (TURBO) and Mew (MEW), will also be making appearances.

The initial release of MemeBattle will include 10 playable characters and is set to take place in January. However, unlike traditional deck-building games, the characters in MemeBattle will not be represented as cards but rather as unique in-game entities.

To provide a seamless user experience, Pixelverse is integrating its new game with Base, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling network powered by the Optimism stack.

PIXIFI Token Sees 90% Drop Since Launch

Pixelverse was launched in February 2024 and has quickly gained popularity within the gaming community. Its token, PIXFI, was launched on The Open Network (TON), a layer-1 blockchain that has become a hub for tap-to-earn (T2E) projects.

The PIXFI token has a market capitalization of $5.05 million and a 24-hour trading volume of over $15.6 million. It is currently trading at $0.003393, down 7.1% over the last 24 hours.

Overall, the token has not performed particularly well since its launch, having lost around 90% of its value.

Despite the token’s lack of performance, Pixelverse as a whole has managed to gain significant traction. The launch of MemeBattle follows the earlier success of PixelTap, a Telegram mini-game that was played by millions of users in the first half of 2024.

The project also received funding from Gate.io, which allocated $50 million from its Meme Fund to support Pixelverse.
