MegaETH, a layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution, will go live with its testnet on March 6 and become the first real-time blockchain.
MegaETH, a layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution, will go live with its testnet on March 6, becoming the first real-time blockchain. The project has 100,000 TPS with a new vertical scaling approach, shunning the horizontal scaling limitations common with traditional rollups.
The testnet deployment will occur from March 6 through infrastructure onboarding until March 10, as revealed on its official X account. User onboarding will begin on March 10, depositing testnet ETH directly into participants’ wallets upon sign-up. MegaForge encourages app developers and teams to join the program for early access to the network.

MegaETH Is Different From Other Rollups
Having secured significant funding and assembled a stellar team, MegaETH is making swift progress. Its goal is to build the fastest and largest blockchain, a claim supported by the reported 1.68 Ggas/sec capacity and 15ms effective block times.
Highlighting these achievements in the Tech Around and Find Out podcast, the team explained how they managed to create a chain that processes transactions “as fast as light.”
In contrast to other rollup implementations that are limited by horizontal scaling to handle a maximum of 7,000 TPS, MegaETH optimizes for vertical scaling, capable of reaching 100,000 TPS.
Moreover, the chain boasts real-time transaction finality, effectively resolving the pressing issue of scalability that has plagued Ethereum for years.
This rendering of the chain performing optimally is supported by the simulation results. Notably, the chain was able to handle a peak load of 1.5 million transactions within a 24-hour period.
Buterin Among Prominent Investors In Final Thoughts
Among the prominent investors in MegaETH is Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who participated in its $20 million seed round, which was led by Dragonfly Capital. The project later raised an additional $10 million in a funding round that was headed by Echo Platform.
As rumors swirl about the lackluster market performance and slow development of Ethereum, MegaETH’s live scaling solution might be the wake-up call that the ecosystem needs.
If successful, it would fundamentally alter the usability of Ethereum and propel adoption to new heights.
