Fred Thiel, the CEO of Marathon Digital, has shared his thoughts on the future of Bitcoin and what long-term investors should do.
According to Thiel, the best way to capitalize on cryptocurrencies is to invest a small amount of Bitcoin on a monthly basis. He says that this will allow investors to benefit from the cryptocurrency’s sustained growth over the long term.
The CEO of MARA is optimistic about Bitcoin’s performance in 2025, predicting a significant increase in institutional adoption. He believes that the involvement of financial institutions will boost demand for Bitcoin, which could lead to increased scarcity of BTC. This scarcity, combined with a limited supply, could drive up the price of Bitcoin, much like the approval of Bitcoin ETFs in 2024.
While Thiel doesn’t specify an exact price for Bitcoin in 2025, he highlights the positive trend of recent years. Over the past 14 years, Bitcoin has only fallen three times, achieving an average annual growth of between 29% and 50%. Based on this data, the CEO of Marathon Digital suggests that investors should be putting in small amounts on a monthly basis, ignoring short-term fluctuations and focusing on long-term growth.
The CEO also notes that a potential move by governments to include Bitcoin in their reserves could put further pressure on the supply. In addition to the United States, countries like Russia and Switzerland are already considering the creation of such reserves.
On another note, Thiel also discusses the role of institutions like BlackRock and its Bitcoin ETF in the growth of Bitcoin. The support of figures like Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, has been instrumental in ensuring the mainstream acceptance of Bitcoin in the financial sector. In this regard, MARA anticipates that more banks will follow suit by 2025.
Thiel’s statements indicate a strong belief in the future of Bitcoin, both in terms of its performance and the entry of institutional players into the crypto market. His recommendation to invest consistently and for the long term underscores the value of adopting a patient strategy for those seeking to maximize their profits from Bitcoin.
