Called ZCert, the new service is available to people who choose to publish their official Digital Identities (IDs) on the Chinese state-run Xinghuo
Malaysian blockchain Zetrix will now provide electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification for Chinese nationals living abroad. The new service, called ZCert, is available to those who choose to publish their official Digital Identities (IDs) on the Chinese state-run Xinghuo Blockchain Infrastructure and Facility (BIF).
Zetrix is able to offer the ZCert service through its integration with Xighuo BIF, which is operated by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Zetrix is the operator of the Xinghuo BIF International Supernode.
“ZCerts enables a new wave of services powered by smart contracts […] Payments on Web3 platforms can now be executed fully in compliance with existing rules,” said Zetrix co-founder T.S. Wong.
“This service will greatly benefit Chinese individuals living overseas who frequently encounter difficulties in completing eKYC processes due to geographical constraints. Now, they can easily upload their Digital IDs, which will be automatically verified and certified by the relevant authorities in China.”
Wong added that Zetrix's parent company MY EG Services partnered with the Malaysian government research and development agency MIMOS in 2022 to create a Malaysian national public blockchain.
“MIMOS signed an agreement with Worldcoin in August and enlisted MY EG to ‘integrate Worldcoin technology into the country’s digital infrastructure,'” the report said.
Zetrix also plans to expand its ID verification service to include other critical documents in the near future. Notably, Zetrix already digitizes Chinese driving licenses for overseas verification.
Among other services, Xinghuo BIF operates a signature verification service, and upon integrating with Zetrix, it planned to launch services in Malaysia and other ASEAN countries, including cross-border commodity tracing, identity verification and supply-chain finance.
