The Magic Eden Foundation has provided the latest update on when the airdrop will happen.
Magic Eden NFT Marketplace to Simulate ME Token Claim in October
Magic Eden, a leading non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace, has provided a fresh update on the highly anticipated launch of its native token, ME.
According to an announcement on Sept. 30, the NFT marketplace will begin simulating the ME token claim through its native Magic Eden Wallet in October.
The simulation will involve a test token being airdropped into the Magic Eden Wallet, showcasing the process of claiming ME tokens. Notably, the simulation token will not carry any utility or value.
Users will be able to connect all their wallets, including hardware, mobile, and desktop wallets, through the Magic Eden Wallet mobile version to view their total ME claim in a single interface.
Once the simulation exercise is complete, the ME Foundation will announce the project’s tokenomics and the token generation event (TGE) for ME, which is expected to pave the way for further growth for Magic Eden.
In August, Magic Eden unveiled plans to integrate its new ME token into the NFT marketplace's decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Apart from participating in DAO governance, ME token holders will also gain access to cross-chain trading within the web3 ecosystem.
According to data from August 2024, Magic Eden furthered its stronghold in the NFT marketplace as its market share reached 37%. In comparison, Blur’s market size dropped to around 25%, while OpenSea saw its overall dominance shrink to 20% after recently receiving a Wells Notice from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
