World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a financial crypto project associated with US President Donald Trump, has transferred a large number of cryptocurrency assets
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a financial crypto project that is connected to US President Donald Trump, has moved a substantial amount of cryptocurrency assets, valued at $316 million, to the Coinbase Prime platform, which enables the storage, purchase, and investment of assets.
Among the cryptocurrencies are 73,783 Ethereum (ETH), valued at $212 million, and 552 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), valued at $52.7 million. Chainlink (LINK), Aave (AAVE), Ethena (ENA), Movement (MOVE), Ondo (ONDO), and USD Coin (USDC) were also transferred. As a result, the total value of WLFI’s cryptocurrency assets has decreased by 90%, reaching $33 million. According to WLFI, these transfers were made as part of treasury management and business operations.
"To clarify, we are not selling tokens; we are merely reallocating assets for standard business operations," the official statement reads.
The action has sparked discussion in the cryptocurrency community, particularly given the project's ties to Donald Trump and his family. Some have also speculated that WLFI may be preparing to launch a stablecoin or other financial products, backed by its large ETH holdings. Notably, WLFI has been acquiring a significant amount of Ether recently, with 3,191 ETH ($10 million) and 1,826 ETH ($5 million) being acquired most recently. ETH constituted more than 61% of total assets (around $220 million).
Something is definitely brewing around Ethereum. A day prior, on February 3, Eric Trump wrote, "Now is a good time to add ETH." Interestingly, the message initially included one more sentence at the end, which Eric later deleted for some reason: "You will thank me later."
On the same day, entrepreneur and co-head of the "Department of Government Effectiveness" (D.O.G.E.) Vivek Ramaswamy stated that ETH will be included in the US strategic crypto reserve. A DeFi app by WLFI is being built on Ethereum, Deutsche Bank and UBS are playing around with L2 on Ethereum, Eric Trump is "bullish" on ETH, and overall, all roads lead through Ethereum.
In other interesting developments, US Congressman William Timmons has added .X to his profile description in a nod to ETH.
As evident, the Trump family and their associates are actively engaging in promoting cryptocurrency. Notably, several prominent individuals, including Eric Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy, who have a financial stake in ETH, are大力推动 the cryptocurrency.
The native token of the Ethereum network, ETH, was among the cryptocurrencies that suffered a significant drop as a result of the recent turmoil in the crypto market, which was sparked by US President Donald Trump's decision to impose tariffs on goods from Canada, China, and Mexico (the decision on the latter country was postponed for a month). However, today the token has made a 180-degree turn and is now trading above $2800.
