Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has increased its Bitcoin holdings with a fresh purchase of 162 BTC, bringing its total stash to 3,050 BTC.
CEO Simon Gerovich confirmed the acquisition, disclosing that the company spent $13.5 million at an average price of $83,123 per Bitcoin.
Even after Bitcoin's recent price decrease, Metaplanet's crypto assets are now valued at approximately $249.4 million, closely trailing the $253.7 million spent by the company on its acquisitions.
Since April, when the firm first announced its strategy to invest in Bitcoin, it has been steadily accumulating the cryptocurrency. By December, the company had formally designated Bitcoin treasury operations as a central focus of its business.
