Jack Dorsey's Enigmatic Post Ignites Speculation Within the XRP Camp
Feb 04, 2025 at 05:31 pm
A recent post by Jack Dorsey, the visionary behind Twitter and a well-known advocate of decentralized technology, has ignited speculation among cryptocurrency enthusiasts
A recent post by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has sparked speculation among cryptocurrency enthusiasts, particularly within the XRP camp. The brief AI-generated clip, shared on Primal, a decentralized platform built on the Nostr protocol, features Bitcoin bull MicroStrategy Chairman Michael Saylor in a way that has ignited heated debate within the crypto community.
The four-second footage shows Saylor, a staunch Bitcoin advocate, enveloped in visuals celebrating the asset. Clad in symbolic armor, he represents his unwavering support for Bitcoin. However, in an unexpected twist, he leaps into the air, and upon descending, he morphs into an XRP emblem.
This striking metamorphosis has sparked intense discussions about the deeper meaning behind the video. Could it suggest an ideological shift? Or was it intended as satire? The ambiguity has fueled a flurry of interpretations from various corners of the digital asset sphere.
Dorsey's decision to keep the video live on the platform as of February 2 has amplified debates regarding its significance. While some within the XRP community view it as a possible indication of shifting perspectives toward the asset, skeptics argue it could be an indirect critique of Saylor rather than an endorsement of XRP.
The timing of this post is also noteworthy. Recently, prominent crypto analyst Scott Melker suggested that a potential Trump administration could consider XRP for inclusion in a government-backed reserve system—an idea that challenges the long-held belief among Bitcoin maximalists that Bitcoin should be the sole asset in such a reserve. This backdrop of rising tensions between Bitcoin purists and XRP proponents only adds to the intrigue surrounding Dorsey's post.
The video quickly caught the attention of influential figures in the digital currency space. A well-known XRP advocate, Mr. Intuitive, was among the first to highlight the clip, questioning whether Dorsey was insinuating a deeper narrative regarding XRP's place in the crypto ecosystem. Similarly, Good Morning Crypto host Abdullah “Abs” Nassif scrutinized the post, wondering if it symbolized an evolving stance on digital assets beyond Bitcoin.
However, not everyone interprets the clip as a positive signal for XRP. John Deaton, a seasoned legal expert and a vocal supporter of XRP in regulatory battles, cautioned against assuming that Dorsey was endorsing the asset. Instead, he proposed that the post might reflect a critique of Saylor rather than a review of XRP's legitimacy.
Deaton pointed out that Dorsey has historically dismissed other cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum, arguing that they are subject to centralized influence. He emphasized that Dorsey has remained firm in his belief that Bitcoin is the only truly decentralized asset, making it unlikely that he would suddenly pivot in favor of XRP.

Additionally, Saylor himself has openly criticized XRP. In a previous interview, he explicitly stated that he would not recommend XRP as an investment, citing concerns over regulatory risks and suggesting that it functions more like a security than a decentralized currency.
The true meaning behind Dorsey's post remains elusive. Some interpret it as a humorous dig at Saylor, insinuating that despite his Bitcoin evangelism, he may ultimately be no different from those who advocate for XRP. Others speculate that the post acknowledges XRP's growing relevance, even if not outright supportively.
Regardless of the intention, the video highlights the ongoing friction between Bitcoin loyalists and advocates of alternative digital assets. As the crypto market continues to evolve, and with regulatory and political factors influencing future developments, shifts in alliances and perspectives remain possible.
For now, Dorsey has chosen silence, letting the community speculate on the meaning of his post. Whether this marks the beginning of a new crypto narrative or simply a playful jab at Saylor is yet to be determined.
