The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has formally written to the Future Host Commission and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressing its interest in hosting the 2036 Summer Olympic Games.
In a letter dated March 8, 2023, and signed by IOA President PT Usha, the association highlighted India's passion for sports, particularly the Olympics, and its remarkable achievements in recent years. The letter also mentioned the country's vast youth population, rich cultural heritage, and experience in hosting major sporting events.
The IOA has proposed several potential host cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai, each offering unique strengths and infrastructure to support the Games.
The association has expressed its commitment to working closely with the IOC and other stakeholders to ensure a successful and memorable Olympic experience for athletes, spectators, and the entire world.
