Both teams had chances to win the game, but neither could find the back of the net. Hyderabad FC had the better of the first half, with Ramhlunchhunga coming closest to scoring with a shot that was saved by Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa.
Mumbai City FC improved in the second half and had a great chance to take the lead when Lallianzuala Chhangte set up Jon Toral in the 52nd minute, but the Spaniard's shot was saved by Arshdeep Singh.
Chhangte had another chance to score in the 83rd minute, but his shot went wide. Hyderabad FC also had a late chance to win the game, but Edmilson Correia's shot was blocked by the Mumbai City FC defence.
The draw leaves Hyderabad FC in third place in the ISL standings, while Mumbai City FC are now up to fifth.
