Halifax updates cash withdrawal limits for different accounts after customer query
Oct 07, 2024 at 05:07 pm
The standard limit is in fact higher than this, although there are some notable exceptions to the rule
Halifax customers are subject to varying cash withdrawal limits depending on the type of account they hold.
Standard bank accounts have a daily ATM withdrawal limit of £800, while Cardcash, Easycash, and Expresscash accounts are limited to £500.
Meanwhile, savings accounts linked to a cashpoint card have a lower daily limit of £300. These limits are applied automatically.
Customers with debit cards can adjust their withdrawal limits through the Barclays app. Cash withdrawals can be made at any ATM displaying the Visa or Plus logo using a debit card.
However, cash cards can only be used at Barclays ATMs. Some ATMs may charge a fee or have a withdrawal limit.
Larger cash withdrawals might require multiple transactions, even at Post Office counters or shop checkouts.
However, self-service machines or counters at Barclays branches allow for the full amount to be withdrawn in a single transaction.
Halifax, along with other major banks, is now required to maintain access to cash when closing down branches, thanks to new regulations introduced in March.
In areas where only one bank branch remains and it is being closed, a banking hub will be established instead.
These hubs are shared centres managed by the Post Office, where customers from different banks can perform basic services like cash withdrawal.
The Financial Conduct Authority rules apply to the following 14 banks
