The X account @TrumpDailyPosts has become the target of hackers who used it to spread several fake meme coin addresses.
A pro-Trump X account with over 100,000 followers has been hacked and used to promote several fake meme coin addresses.
The account, @TrumpDailyPosts, has been posting several scam tokens, including the $POWER token. A Web3 anti-scam platform, Scam Sniffer, has noted that the account is posting and then deleting posts related to scams.
“Another large scale fraud association,” Scam Sniffer wrote in a tweet.
The gas source of the creator of the address for the fake $POWER token is the same platform that was involved in another recent hack on the MetaMask co-founder’s Farcaster account.
In that case, the hackers were advertising meme coins and were accused of making over 1,000 SOL. This appears to be a well orchestrated effort by a professional cyber-criminal gang that is now focusing on high-profile crypto characters and organizations.
This is becoming a growing threat in the Crypto Space. It is concerning that scammers have taken to social media accounts to pump scam tokens. The incredibility of followers can again be detrimental as hackers take advantage of famous accounts and then make lots of money.
The @TrumpDailyPosts breach is a reminder that cybercriminals are adapting to newer ways of doing their business through meme coins and social media networks.
Considering such trends, detecting fake and scams increases mobile platforms and their users should take action against these threats. Users should be careful with these meme coins as they search for energetic revenues for their pools; security is more important than gain.
