Google Announces Significant Updates to Its Gemini AI Model, Introducing a More Efficient 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental Model
Mar 15, 2025 at 11:22 pm
The latest version of Gemini, known as the 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, offers faster performance and increased efficiency.
Google has unveiled significant updates to its versatile AI model, Gemini. Building upon the previous iteration, Gemini is now presented in a more efficient 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, boasting faster performance and increased efficiency. The upgraded model excels in response accuracy by meticulously breaking down prompts into structured reasoning steps.
At the forefront of this update is the introduction of a 1-million-token context window. This enhancement, available to Gemini Advanced users, facilitates the handling of even more complex tasks. Moreover, with the addition of file upload support, the model’s capabilities are further expanded.
In another key development, the Deep Research feature within Gemini has been amplified with the new model, bestowing upon it heightened abilities in planning, searching, reasoning, and reporting. Users can now expect multi-page, high-quality reports with visible reasoning steps, closely mirroring the approach of DeepSeek. This improvement ensures that Gemini provides more transparent and detailed outputs.
The updated Deep Research feature is readily available in over 45 languages across the globe. While free-tier users will have limited access to this feature a few times a month, Gemini Advanced subscribers can enjoy expanded usage.
A new experimental personalization capability is being introduced, allowing Gemini to integrate deeply with other Google apps and services for customized responses. This feature, linked to Google Search, tailors results based on user preferences. For instance, if a user frequently searches for sneakers, Gemini will take this history into account when making recommendations.
Users can easily activate this feature by selecting “Personalization (experimental)” from the model settings. As time progresses, Gemini will integrate with an expanding array of Google services, rendering interactions more intuitive and user-focused.
Gemini is transforming into a central hub for personal productivity and assistance. It can now connect with Google Calendar, Notes, Tasks, and Photos, currently in English. This integration allows users to execute complex multi-step requests, such as:
“Add an event to my calendar for tomorrow at 10 AM in Google Calendar. Then add a note in Google Tasks to pick up some milk on the way home.”
Finally, Gems, a highlight of the Gemini app, are now free for all users to enjoy. This move closely follows the company’s goal of making Gemini a more accessible and essential tool in daily digital experiences.
With these updates, Google aims to make Gemini even more powerful, personalized, and integrated, further cementing its role as a leading AI assistant. You can try out the new features for free at https://gemini.google.com/.
