Getgems Bets on Telegram to Boost NFT Adoption in 2025
Jan 30, 2025 at 03:00 am
Even though NFT volumes and sales were significantly lower in 2024, The Open Network's (TON) NFT marketplace Getgems remains optimistic
NFT marketplace Getgems is betting on Telegram to drive NFT adoption in 2025.
Getgems, an NFT marketplace on The Open Network (TON), is betting on Telegram's Web3 entry to spur adoption.
According to the Getgems team, Telegram and its vast user base could propel NFT adoption. In a statement to Cointelegraph, the team highlighted that NFTs had a “big moment” in the past, but they never had a connection with a large number of users like Telegram.
With previous NFT collections such as Usernames and Anonymous Numbers garnering around $480 million in trading volume, Getgems noted that the demand and usability for Telegram NFTs are evident.
OpenSea users express dissatisfaction with OS2 private beta, airdrop dynamics
OpenSea faced backlash from users as it unveiled the private beta of the trading platform's new version. Users took to X to voice their frustrations regarding the initial access to the new marketplace and the dynamics of an upcoming token airdrop.
Those who gained access to the new platform reported that the marketplace introduced a new dynamic called points. However, users noted that the new platform does not grant retroactive points to old users, essentially making them start from scratch when using the second platform.
NFT trader Beanie highlighted this decision in a post, urging the community to drive OpenSea's token to zero upon its launch.
DraftKings settles NFL union suit over NFT pay dispute: report
U.S. sports betting platform DraftKings settled with the National Football League Players Association, which accused the site of failing to pay for using NFL player likenesses in NFTs.
The NFLPA and DraftKings told a New York federal judge in a joint letter that they mediated the suit and reached a settlement. They asked the court for a 60-day stay of the suit, which would give them until March 28 to finalize the settlement.
The NFLPA sued DraftKings in August, seeking $65 million in damages, based on figures shared through the lawsuit. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.
