Frustrated Time.fun Creator Calls Out Base's X Profile for Promoting AI-Made Grok Token While Ignoring Their Project

Another day, another blockchain drama and this time featuring Time.fun's creator 0xKawz, calling out layer-2 network Base for promoting a memecoin

Layer-2 scaling network Base has been poking fun at Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok for launching a token on the network, as part of a series of posts highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in Web3.

However, one Time.fun creator appeared to be more surprised by Base’s support for a memecoin, especially since the network has ignored the product for months, adding that the product managers should be focusing on products with utility.

In a March 10 post on X, Base gave a shoutout to Bankrbot, a Base-based portfolio management protocol, stating that Grok’s AI-controlled wallet is already stacking fees and the total is over $250,000.

While commenters reacted by poking fun at Grok for launching a token, another user pointed out that the chatbot had been planning to create a token since January.

Earlier this year, Ann, product manager at Optimism, also discussed the role of AI in Web3, noting that the industry is quickly advancing and new use cases are emerging every day.

Ann said that Optimism is exploring ways to integrate AI into its products and services in a meaningful way. For example, Optimism could use AI to improve the efficiency of its gas optimization system or to develop new tools for developers.

Earlier this week, crypto accelerator AllianceDAO announced that it had backed 10 new startups, including gaming guild Block Impact, which is developing a triple-A game powered by Nvidia Omniverse.

Among the new startups in AllianceDAO’s portfolio is also Time.fun, a social finance platform that allows anyone to create a trading and redemption market for their time within minutes.

The startup, which is backed by Coinbase Ventures and Brevan Howard Digital, enables fans to gain special access to their favorite creators, who can monetize their time and build new revenue streams.

It offers users the opportunity to profit by purchasing a creator’s minutes early and benefiting as they gain influence. A creator’s time tokens can be redeemed for access to various products or experiences.
