For those who are unfamiliar, could you please tell us a bit more about Near Foundation and its mission?

Aitana: Of course! So, Near Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on developing the Near protocol, a high-performance blockchain designed for optimal usability and broad accessibility. We envision a future where Web3 technologies empower billions of people around the world.

Our mission is to build a new, vibrant internet, powered by blockchain technology and cryptoeconomics. We believe in an internet that is owned and controlled by its users, not centralized institutions.

Polkadot: And what are some of the core values that drive the work of Near Foundation in realizing this vision?

Ben: At Near Foundation, we are guided by several core values that shape everything we do.

Firstly, we deeply care about the people we work with and aim to foster a positive and supportive environment. We believe in treating everyone with respect and valuing diversity of thought and background.

Secondly, we are driven by a strong sense of urgency to create a better future with Web3 technologies. We are constantly innovating and pushing boundaries to realize this vision as quickly and effectively as possible.

Polkadot: Certainly, interoperability is crucial for the future of Web3, allowing different blockchains and protocols to seamlessly communicate and collaborate. In this context, how does Near approach interoperability and what are some of the key initiatives in this domain?

Aitana: Interoperability is indeed fundamental for the next stage of Web3, and it’s something we’ve been keenly focused on since the beginning at Near.

We believe that interoperability will enable the creation of truly groundbreaking dApps and services, spanning multiple protocols and ecosystems.

We’ve been actively involved in several interoperability initiatives, such as the Open Web3 Foundation, which is focused on developing open standards and best practices for interoperable blockchain protocols.

We are also a founding member of the Interchain Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a decentralized internet of blockchains, based on the Polkadot protocol.

Through these collaborations and our ongoing technical development efforts, we aim to contribute to a future where different blockchain ecosystems can seamlessly connect and interoperate, unlocking new possibilities for innovation and adoption.

Polkadot: As technology evolves rapidly, adaptability is key for any organization to stay relevant and productive. In this context, how does Near Foundation approach adapting to changes in the crypto landscape and what are some key instances of this adaptability?

Ben: At Near Foundation, we are constantly monitoring the evolving crypto landscape and adapting our strategies accordingly.

We believe that being responsive to change is crucial for staying at the forefront of innovation and making a lasting impact with our technology.

For example, when we observed the growing interest in DeFi protocols and dApps earlier this year, we adapted our content strategy to highlight the thriving DeFi ecosystem on Near.
