Fhenix Raises $15 Million to Bring Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) to Blockchain Technology

Jun 05, 2024 at 07:03 pm

According to the most recent information given with Finbold on June 5, the groundbreaking Layer 2 blockchain Fhenix, which uses Fully Homomorphic Encryption

Fhenix Raises $15 Million to Bring Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) to Blockchain Technology

Layer 2 blockchain Fhenix, which integrates Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), has secured $15 million in a Series A funding round, the latest report from Finbold on June 5 reveals.

The investment round brings Fhenix’s total financing to $22 million. Led by Hack VC, the round features participation from Dao5, Amber Group, Primitive, GSR, Collider, and Stake Capital.

The funding will be allocated to Helium, Fhenix’s new open testnet that will allow developers to launch smart contracts on the Fhenix network for the first time.

Combining FHE—an advanced cryptographic technique that allows computations on encrypted data without decryption—into blockchain technology, Fhenix is revolutionizing the space.

As a result, Fhenix is the first blockchain to offer a platform for smart contracts that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and has native support for FHE.

Developers on the platform can easily encrypt their Solidity-based applications using familiar tools, thanks to FHE.

Fhenix co-founder Guy Zyskind expressed his long-standing commitment to secure computing: “I have dedicated my life’s work to studying secure computing in order to apply blockchain-based privacy measures. Having exhausted all other options, I finally settled on FHE as the optimal technological solution. The launch of the Fhenix testnet marks a significant milestone in the implementation of onchain encrypted computing.”

Fhenix CEO Guy Itzhaki shared his view that privacy concerns pose the biggest threat to Ethereum’s (ETH) mass adoption:

“Having solved the issue of scaling, the next frontier for Ethereum to crack in order to achieve mass adoption is privacy. Unlike current privacy solutions based on zero knowledge technology, FHE enables end-to-end processing of encrypted data, making it the most elegant solution to the encryption challenge. The high level of interest from investors in FHE is a clear indication of the value it brings to blockchain.”

The ability to perform computations on encrypted data opens up new avenues of possibilities for developers creating applications in decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, artificial intelligence (AI), blind auctions, and confidential voting, among others.
