ENS Domain Names Now Directly Display Wallets and Balances After the Service Was Integrated with Google Searches
Oct 10, 2024 at 04:51 am
Google engaged ENS Name Service through its Web3 team, making wallet exploration easier.
Google has integrated the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) into its search engine, allowing users to directly view wallet addresses and balances when searching for ENS domain names.
The integration was announced by Google's Web3 team on Saturday, with ENS being the first service to cooperate with the search giant.
“You all asked for @ensdomains integration and it's live,” wrote Nalin, a member of Google's Search team.
As reported by Cointelegraph, the development comes after Pollak, the creator of the Base chain, reached out to Google's team following the Ethereum integration.
The integration will provide a more convenient way to explore wallets and their activity, as users will no longer need to manually copy-paste addresses or use separate tools. Each ENS name will lead directly to the main wallet balance and the latest transactions.
Prominent ENS names, which are often linked to social media brands or influencers, are closely tracked for copy-trading or wallet activities.
However, it's worth noting that ENS domain names have always been searchable with extra steps. The integration with Google searches will simply make the process more accessible and direct.
The development also marks another path to mainstream adoption for ENS, which has seen increasing usage across chains.
“This is a huge development for ENS and the broader Web3 community,” said Yat Siu, co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands.
“ENS has played a pivotal role in making crypto addresses more user-friendly and accessible, and its integration with Google will further accelerate Web3 adoption among mainstream audiences.”
Despite the positive news, ENS still traded around $16.70 on Saturday, close to its one-month low, according to CoinGecko.
The token has gone through hype cycles and is considered one of the solid Ethereum projects, but it's currently showing a breakout to the downside from its recent expansion trend.
The names and domains on Ethereum are among the most successful use cases for NFT ownership. Following the addition of a dedicated Google search box, the ENS floor prices rose by 50%, from 0.0004 ETH to 0.0006 ETH.
Recently listed business-themed or Web3-themed names range from 2.5 ETH to 50 ETH. The service may also gain more subscribers with the addition of meme names and themes.
Recently, a wallet tagged as a “legendary NFT collector” by Nansen purchased the moodeng.eth name handle. The wallet already controls more than 450K diverse ETH names.
Even small-scale owners can reserve high-profile ENS, such as popcat.eth. The high-profile domains can then be offered again on OpenSea.
The auction for moodeng.eth has been opened, but the first bids are yet to come. ENS carries 1,912,116 active names, with some reserved for the year ahead or as far ahead as 2027.
The meme craze may benefit the ENS trade even more compared to the NFT market boom.
