There have been talks of expansion within the Cardano blockchain for several months. In line with the community's expectations, EMURGO, the commercial arm of Input Output Global, has partnered with BitcoinOS to launch a bridge for the layer-1 network.
Months after talks of expanding the Cardano blockchain surfaced, EMURGO, the commercial arm of Input Output Global, has partnered with BitcoinOS to launch a bridge for the layer-1 network.
Announced on Monday, this partnership aims to integrate Bitcoin into the Cardano ecosystem, enabling users to bridge their BTC seamlessly. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance interoperability between different blockchain networks.
As the first recognized blockchain protocol, Bitcoin's capabilities are limited, especially regarding smart contract functionality. This limitation inspired innovations to amplify the coin's capabilities by utilizing smart contract capacities from other platforms.
The BitcoinOS Grail to Cardano Bridge will facilitate liquidity flow between both chains, offering users the best aspects of proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) networks. The BitcoinOS protocol highlighted the benefits users can derive from the integration, including the zero-knowledge cryptography powering the Grail Bridge.
This element of privacy and security ensures that users utilizing the Grail Bridge experience no significant tradeoffs from the protocols they currently operate on.
Impact on Cardano's price
When the majority of innovations Cardano is pursuing come to fruition, they can drive adoption and increase demand for ADA. This has a substantial impact on the coin's price in the long term, as more users seeking to connect to BTC will lead to higher valuation.
At the time of writing, Cardano's price is pegged at $0.3427, indicating a 3.21% decrease over 24 hours. The steepest losses recorded are greater than this. However, the coin is recovering and may chart a positive growth trajectory following the BitcoinOS update.
