Dons extend unbeaten run to six games after battling back to draw with Crewe

League Two leaders AFC Wimbledon were pegged back by Crewe as the Railwaymen extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 1-1 draw at the Alexandra Stadium.

Jamie Knight-Lebel edged the Railwaymen ahead from an early set play before Mikael Mandron slammed in a leveller just before the interval.

AFC Wimbledon may boast the meanest defence in League Two, but they gifted Crewe a 15th-minute opener with some poor marking at Joel Tabiner's free-kick. Knight-Lebel was left free at the far post to prod home an easy finish.

The visitors responded with Alistair Smith's low 20-yard drive grabbed at the second attempt by Filip Marschall.

Knight-Lebel was offered another chance at the far post, only on this occasion goalkeeper Owen Goodman blocked the on-loan youngster's effort.

The Dons were level in first-half stoppage time thanks to a superb strike from Mandron, who unleashed a drive into the bottom corner after he was teed up on the right of the box by Matty Stevens.

Johnnie Jackson's side started the second half on the front foot with Marcus Browne forcing Marschall to tip his shot on the turn around the post.

Crewe's defence was at full stretch when Matus Holicek got in the way of Stevens' goal-bound effort to divert the ball around.

Browne crashed a shot against the underside of the Crewe crossbar as the Londoners dominated possession and looked more likely to snatch a winner.

In a rare moment of threat from the hosts, substitute Kane Hemmings broke on goal, but Joe Lewis got a vital touch to dispossess the frontman as the spoils were shared.
